Preparing for SUCCESS….
Test Strategies for certification exams
IT and Project Management certifications are increasingly recognized as a benchmark for success by employers.
A recent study by CompTIA reported “80% of HR Professionals in medium-size and large organizations rely on industry-recognized technical certifications during the hiring process.” Degrees still hold value, but trends indicate they cannot keep pace with constantly changing technologies.
Certifications prove applicants have met the world-wide industry standard for specific job roles and they are RELEVENT.
Whether you are considering Project Management, Cyber Security, Infrastructure and Cloud, or Database job roles, CTT provides training on the exam objectives and the support necessary to get each certification candidate across the finish line. We don’t just sell seats in classes, anyone can occupy a class seat! We work with each candidate until they are certified, the only meaningful outcome that employers demand.
Understanding the exam objectives is one part of the program, test preparation and test strategies are another. Here are some tips we have found to be extremely valuable to our successful certification graduates:
Familiarize yourself with the exam structure and objectives; how many test questions, what is the time limit, are the question formats multiple-choice, scenario based or simulations?
Read the exam question multiple times, put it in your own words. You need to understand exactly what is being asked.
Eliminate answers that are obviously wrong.
Be careful of questions that appear similar to simulated practice tests. If one word is different it could change the entire question.
When dealing with questions from Mars, do not panic! Test vendors use current test takers to evaluate the reliability of upcoming test questions, material not required for the current exam. Incorrect answers will not count against you, but correct answers are credited.
If possible, mark each question you are not 100% certain of for review. Don’t be surprised if this is 30% or higher! This strategy will help you
- manage your time so you don’t use too much valuable time on any one question.
- allow you to see other questions that may clarify previous questions
- treat marked questions like a new exam with the benefit of having seen ALL the exam questions.
- allow you to use all remaining time on these difficult questions
REMEMBER, there is no prize for speed. Use all the time afforded to you.
We know YOUR SUCCESS is OUR SUCCESS!
