Is the robot APOCALYPSE coming?
What YOU need to know about AI in the 2024 workplace.
There’s no question that AI, artificial intelligence, will have a long term impact on the job market. It is already a big part of recruitment, routing out ideal candidates from volumes of resumes, saving HR departments valuable time.
AI is also helping job candidates with various tools for resume writing, job application trackers and more. In theory, this cutting edge technology should result in giving everyone an advancement. But in practice, will it eliminate our jobs?
In a recent Linked In article, AI is considered as more of a job redefiner than killer, especially for repetitive tasks which can be time consuming and inconsistent due to human fatigue. AI could allow those workers to deal with more meaningful, satisfying tasks. Data processors, customer service representatives, and supply chain managers could be phased out soon but still have time to up skill and stay relevant.
Like the industrial revolution, we have time to adjust and add new skills to stay relevant in the digital revolution. Our job market is constantly changing, remaining relevant is more important than ever.
According to a Pew Research report, the transition to AI will likely take 50 years or more. It’s up to us to be life-long learners to leverage our skills. It may be a while but it’s coming, like it or not!
